Phyllis Ann Doyle Ferguson passed peacefully on February 22, 2016 with her loving family by her side. She was born January 29, 1932 in Richmond, VA. She was the daughter of the late Jesse Thomas Doyle and Sallie Williams Doyle. She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-two years, Alfred L. Ferguson, Sr.

Phyllis was also preceded in death by her brothers, George “Buddy” Doyle, Jasper Thomas Doyle, William “Rudy” Doyle, Mills Henry Doyle, Alton Eugene Doyle, Bobby L. Doyle; her sisters, Elsie Elizabeth Taylor, Jessie Caroline Morris and Lucille Angie Ligon; one daughter, Marjorie Paxton; and one grandson, Billy Hardison.

She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Phyllis is survived by one sister, Rosa Lee Gregory, and by her loving children, Margaret Smith (Buddy), Linda Hardison, Evelyn May (Bland), Alfred L. Ferguson, Jr. (Lynn) and Michael D. Ferguson (Susan); nine grandchildren, Kimberly May, Michael Graham Ferguson, Nicholas Ferguson, Andrew Ferguson, Tyler Ferguson,Emily May (David), Andy Hardison, Susan Barba (Billy), and Jerry Paxton (Michelle); two great-grandsons, Allen and Ari.

Phyllis was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids. She loved to cook and host her family for holiday gatherings.

The family will receive friends at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services on Thursday, February 25, 2016, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM and other times at 228 Old Farm Road, Roanoke Rapids, NC.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM in Askew Funeral and Cremation Services chapel, officiated by Rev. Randy Martin and Rev. Dathan Hall.

Interment will follow in Forest Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Skippers, Virginia.
